After the relaunch of the Spectrum News app, data showed that customers were confused about two things: 1) Was the app free? 2) How should I sign in?

Previously, our authentication messaging had a heavy marketing slant (free!). The copy created confusion around if the app was a free or paid product. Customers also didn't fully understand the idea of a free trial (name requested by marketing), when there was no paid service.

I worked with our product and design teams to refine our messaging to make the authentication experience more clear for our customers.
